Grief and Loss
Allison has a diverse background of experience working in collegiate counseling, community mental health, church-based, and outpatient hospital settings. She started her career working in county mental health to help individuals going through personal crisis develop coping skills and resources to regain control of their lives. She has also spent half of her professional career working with youth, couples, and families to build better connections to one another, clarify parenting challenges, and change unhealthy generational patterns in families.
Allison believes in a collaborative approach to therapy, where clients and therapists work together to establish goals, evaluate progress, and make change. She utilizes cognitive behavioral, trauma resiliency, strengths based, and systems focused approaches to psychotherapy. Allison has adopted the perspective that “where there is hurt and brokenness, there is an abundance of grace.” Allison believes as we learn how to show grace to ourselves and others in our thinking, speech, and actions we can start to experience healing in our lives.
Allison received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2010. She then furthered her education with a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University in 2013.
Allison is a California native and recently moved to the great state of Texas in the fall of 2019. She enjoys music, traveling, walking her two rescue dogs, and spending time on the weekends with her family.
